The Centre has amended aviation rules to make commercial pilot licenses valid for ten years now. This move is in line with the government's efforts to further improve the ease of doing business in the aviation sector.

The Civil Aviation Ministry amended the Aircraft Rules, 1937, bringing about various changes, including the validity of licenses in relation to Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL) and CPL; the validity of both licenses has been doubled from five years to ten years.

"This change is expected to reduce the administrative burden on pilots and aviation authorities like the DGCA, promoting a more streamlined and efficient licensing process," the Civil Aviation Ministry said in a statement released on October 16.
