Madhya Pradesh Congress President Jitu Patwari

More than half a dozen masked men stormed the residence of Madhya Pradesh Congress chief Jitu Patwari in Indore’s Rajendra Nagar area during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, leaving the neighbourhood shaken and the political circle on edge.

According to a report in NDTV, the gang operated for nearly two and a half hours, striking first at Patwari’s Bijalpur home around 2 am. They allegedly cut the electricity supply, disabling CCTV cameras and plunging the premises into darkness before breaking into the office section of the house.

Drawers and lockers were ransacked, though mobile phones and other valuables were curiously left untouched, a detail that has raised doubts about whether this was a routine burglary.

The masked intruders didn’t stop there. Over the next two hours, they reportedly targeted at least three other homes in the vicinity, including those of Chief Municipal Officer Rajkumar Thakur and Madhya Pradesh Electricity Board officer Narendra Dubey. In these cases, too, the burglars attempted entry by cutting through window nets, the channel reported.
