With less than a fortnight to go for the polling day in Delhi, the BJP stepped up its campaign on Sunday as it organised 20 public meetings which were addressed by top leaders including Amit Shah, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Hardeep Puri and Smriti Irani.
Over 100 organisational meetings and door-to-door campaigns were held by the party across the city, said a Delhi BJP statement.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah addressed a rally in Narela and call on the voters to bring back the BJP to power in Delhi.
Party leaders Arjun Ram Meghwal, Anurag Thakur, Manoj Tiwari, and Ravi Kishan also addressed public meetings in different constituencies.
BJP candidates conducted door-to-door campaigns in all 70 assembly constituencies, directly interacting with over 70,000 families, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said, who addressed five organisational meetings and women's conference.
AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal will "deceive" Delhi women just as he did in Punjab, but the BJP will serve them in Delhi like it does in Madhya Pradesh under the 'Ladli Behna' scheme, former MP chief minister Chouhan said at a public meeting.
Chouhan addressed public gatherings in Mundka, Krishna Nagar, and Karawal Nagar in support of BJP candidates.
Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri addressed a rally in Madipur in support of BJP candidate Kailash Gangwal.
He highlighted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership guarantees certainty in house construction in unauthorised areas and promised that people's problems will be solved if the party comes to power, as per its manifesto.
Union Minister Meghwal addressed rallies for BJP candidate Rohtas Bidhuri in Tughlakabad and Om Prakash Sharma in Vishwas Nagar. Union Minister Harsh Malhotra campaigned in Shalimar Bagh for Rekha Gupta, emphasising that Delhi will no longer tolerate corruption but will demand change.
Former Union minister Smriti Irani campaigned in Okhla, while Anurag Thakur addressed rallies in Rohini for Vijender Gupta and in Greater Kailash for Shikha Rai. They said that Delhi residents will now welcome the "double-engine" BJP government and realise the dream of a "developed Delhi." Former Union minister Sanjeev Balyan campaigned in Vikaspuri for Pankaj Singh, and senior leader Sumitra Balmiki for Kulwant Rana in Rithala.
North East Delhi BJP MP Manoj Tiwari addressed meetings in Mustafabad for party candidate Mohan Singh Bisht and in Rohtas Nagar for Jitendra Mahajan.
Tiwari asserted that from Narela to Badarpur, Delhi is ready for change rather than excuses offered by the ruling AAP.
Gorakhpur MP and actor Ravi Kishan campaigned for party's Shahdara candidate Sanjay Goel, RK Puram candidate Anil Sharma, Patel Nagar canddiate Rajkumar Anand and Harish Khurana in Moti Nagar.
He stated that the Purvanchal community in Delhi is determined to elect a BJP government for better development in their "second home".
