The mandatory cybercrime awareness caller tune in Amitabh Bachchan voice will be removed from Thursday, reports NDTV citing sources.
"The campaign has come to an end and therefore, the caller tune will be removed from today," one of the sources told NDTV.
The pre-recorded message was a part of the govt's campaign to raise awareness awareness about cyber frauds.
The move comes after numerous users complained that they cannot connect to the other person immediately in emergency situations because of the caller tune and Bachchan was also faced criticism for the same.
Earlier, the actor was trolled for a similar pre-recorded caller tune on precautions that needed to be taken against Coronavirus during Covid-19 epidemic. A man filed a public interest litigation in Delhi High Court to remove the caller tune after he and some of his family members were infected.
