The 2,000-bed hospital's medical director Suresh Kumar said on Tuesday the number of people on ventilator at the facility has come down by nearly 25 percent, compared to the figure a month ago.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on July 28 that LNJP Hospital had not reported any death on July 27, a feat, doctors said, recorded for the first time in the last couple of months.

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to severely impact the travel and tourism sector, a survey has showed that just 36 per cent respondents are willing to go on a family holiday while about 43 percent have decided to skip holidaying this year.
"A mere 36 percent people would like to go on a family holiday this year, while 43 percent have no plans to holiday this year due to the fear of the COVID-19 pandemic," according to a survey by BOTT Travel Sentiment Tracker.
The survey was done online with over 5,000 travellers, who were over 21 years, on the BOTT platform between July 1 and July 28. (PTI)

As COVID-19 cases continue to rise in Odisha with over 1,000 new cases being reported daily since July 21, the state's caseload may increase by 50,000 in August, a senior official said.
However, the director of a prominent research laboratory said, considering the rising number of positive cases now, the pandemic will be stable in Odisha by the last week of August after reaching its peak.
"At this stage of the pandemic, numbers will rise. We may add another 50K cases in August with around another 200 deaths," Prof Jayant Panda, technical advisor to the Health and Family Welfare department, said.

India's testing rate lower than other nations, says WHO Chief Scientist
Noting that lockdown was a temporary measure to contain the spread of coronavirus, a senior official of the World Health Organisation on Tuesday said India has a low testing rate when compared to some of the countries that are successfully trying to curb it.
"India as a whole, the testing rates are much lower compared to some of the countries, who have done well like Germany, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan. Even the United States is testing a huge number of people. So we need to have some benchmark and every public health department needs to have benchmarks on what is the rate of testing per lakh or per million, what is the test positivity rate," theChief Scientist of WHO, Soumya Swaminathan, in an interactive session through video conference said.

Indian players and support staff will have to return negative for COVID-19 at least five times before they start training in the UAE and subsequently will be tested every fifth day during the IPL, according to a draft prepared by the BCCI. A BCCI official told news agency PTI that all Indian players and support staff will have to undergo two COVID-19 RT-PCR tests, 24 hours apart, a week before joining the 14-day quarantine period with their respective teams in India.
If any individual tests positive, he will go into a 14-day quarantine. After the quarantine, he will be required to undergo two more COVID-19 RT-PCR tests within a space of 24 hours and if they come negative, that person will be cleared to fly to UAE for the IPL beginning November 19.

Other staff members at the Chief Minister's Office (CMO) have also given their samples for examination, he said.

Tripura's COVID-19 caseload increased to 5,523 today with the detection of 131 fresh infections, while one more fatality pushed its coronavirus death toll to 28, an official told news agency PTI.
The fresh infections have pushed the number of active cases in Tripura to 1,802, while 3,675 people have recovered from the disease and 18 patients have migrated to other states, he said.

A 55-year-old woman died of COVID-19 at a hospital in Puducherry while 168 fresh cases were reported, pushing the aggregate in the union territory to 4,146.
A release from Director of Health and Family Welfare S Mohan Kumar today said the woman patient was admitted to JIPMER hospital in Puducherry at 5.10 am yesterday with progressive onset of breathlessness and she had pulmonary embolism.
The woman died four hours later, the official said adding she had no co-morbidity.
The Director said the overall active cases in the Union Territory was 1,552 and the total number of people who tested positive for the virus were 4,146. (PTI)

In some "good news" for scientists working on a viable vaccine for COVID-19, a latest study has found that the SARS-CoV-2 virus behind the disease shows little variability, despite having at least six strains.
Published in the journal Frontiers in Microbiology, the "most extensive" study ever carried out on SARS-CoV-2 sequencing drew from the analysis of 48,635 coronavirus genomes, which were isolated by researchers in labs all over the world.
The researchers at the University of Bologna in Italy mapped the spread and the mutations of the virus during its journey to all continents.
The findings show that the novel coronavirus presents little variability, approximately seven mutations per sample. (PTI)

The state government has so far tested 91,227 samples for COVID-19, including 2,196 yesterday, he said.
Arunachal Pradesh reported its first COVID-19 case on April 2 and the patient recovered from the disease on April 16. The state registered its second case on May 24. (PTI)

COVID-19 can bring on neuromuscular complications in patients who previously had none, and exacerbate symptoms in those with preexisting conditions on therapies to stimulate the immune system, according to a new research.
The review of studies, published in the RRNMF Neuromuscular Journal, assessed research mentioning COVID-19 and neuromuscular conditions, published since the beginning of the pandemic through June 18, 2020 -- a total of 547 publications.
