Cold weather conditions continued to persist in North India with the national capital covered in dense fog and experiencing extreme cold.
New Delhi's minimum temperature is expected to go below 7 degrees Celsius, as per the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).
Delhi-NCR region is struggling with the twin challenges of thick fog and extreme cold, making it difficult to commute.
In Punjab and Haryana, too cold weather conditions continued to prevail on December 23 with Bathinda being the coldest place with the minimum temperature of six degrees Celsius.

Among other places in Punjab, Ludhiana, Patiala and Amritsar recorded respective minimum temperatures of 9.2, 8.6 and 11 degrees Celsius respectively, as per IMD.
In Odisha, the weather department has forecasted the prevalence of dense fog in various districts.
Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) Satyabrat Sahu has asked all the district collectors to heighten vigil and take measures to prevent road accidents given the prediction.
Dense foggy conditions will prevail in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sundergarh, Keonjhar, Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, and Rayagada districts.
The weather office said dense fog was witnessed in Koraput, reducing visibility to 50 metres.
