Prasanna Sankar, co-founder of Rippling, a multi billion dollar company and a native of Tamil Nadu took to social media alleging harassment by officers of Chennai Police and a demand of Rs 25 lakh as extortion by the officials.
However, as per reports, Chennai Police said that these allegations are baseless and they were following up on an estranged wife's complaint to the Commissioner of Police alleging the kidnap of her 9 year old son forcibly by her husband's (Prasanna) assistant, Gokul from Chennai, when they came from US.
Sankar wrote on X and alleged that the Assistant Commissioner of Thirumangalam Range and SI (sub inspector) at Thirumangalam police station harassed him for money knowing that he is a successful founder of a multi billion dollar company.
"My wife and I have been going through a divorce and have been sharing custody of our son. Wife handed over the child with full consent to my friend Gokul who took him down two floors to hand him over to me - the child's father. My wife has since filed a false police complaint that my friend kidnapped my child and I might kill him. And that I'm a very successful founder who can be extorted for money," Sankar said.
He further wrote that "The Thirumangalam, Chennai police station is harassing me for money knowing that I'm a successful founder. The AC and the SI have asked me for 25L to release my friend who has been in custody. Please RT for support." He has tagged Tamil Nadu CM and PMO's official X handles.
