The Central government on June 28 announced the appointment of Parag Jain as the new chief of Research & Analysis Wing (RAW). The 1989-batch IPS officer of the Punjab cadre will succeed Ravi Sinha, whose term concludes at the end of this month

Jain, who has over two decades of experience withing the spy agency, is set to assume office on July 1 for a fixed two‑year tenure.

The new chief's appointment comes at a crucial juncture as India deals with growing nexus between Pakistan and China in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor that saw Islamabad and New Delhi engage in an armed conflict.

Moreover, the domestic agencies have recently arrested several individual on the charges of spying.
