Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday hinted that a major expose relating to the irregularities in the Maharashtra Assembly polls of 2024 might be in the works and said that it would have the same explosive effect as a surgical strike. However, he did not reveal when the expose will be made.

"Let me not leak it. We cannot let out the timings of the surgical strike. Our party has found many chinks in the armour and it will bring them out very soon,” he said at the India Today Conclave in Mumbai, news agency PTI reported.

India’s ambitious plan to build its own space station saw another step on Thursday, with astronaut and Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla confirming that the first module will be launched soon.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on India to chart its own course and reduce dependency on other nations, while also lauding Russia’s role as the country partner in the event, describing it as a “strengthening of a time-tested partnership”.

“This time, Russia is the country partner at the trade show — meaning that in this trade show, we are further strengthening a time-tested partnership,” PM Modi said.

“Very soon, in the factory set up with the help of Russia, we will begin manufacturing the AK-203 rifles,” Modi said, noting that a dedicated defence corridor is also being developed in UP. He said that BrahMOS missiles are already being produced there.

The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday evening said that the situation in Ladakh is under control and that there have been no incidents of violence since 4 pm. In a statement, the home ministry also urged individuals to refrain from circulating old and provocative videos in the media and on social media platforms.

“Barring unfortunate incidents that happened early in the day, the situation in Ladakh is brought under control by 4 pm,” the statement said. The statehood for Ladakh movement descended into violence, arson, and street clashes in Leh on Wednesday, leaving four people dead and at least 80 injured, including 40 police personnel, officials said.
