Bihar Assembly Election 2025 News Live: Mahagathbandhan’s Chief Ministerial candidate Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday expressed confidence that the alliance would secure victory in the Bihar Assembly elections, asserting that voters across the state were backing change.
Speaking to reporters on the final day of campaigning, Yadav said there was a “positive environment” on the ground and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of avoiding key issues such as reservations.
“Today is the last day of campaigning. The atmosphere is very good. The people of Bihar have voted for change, and they will do so again on November 11. Whether it’s the Prime Minister or any minister, no one is talking about the reservation we implemented during our 17 months in power. The Prime Minister has eaten up the 65% reservation of the people. He should talk about what he has given to Bihar and Gujarat,” Yadav said.
Celebrations broke out outside Yadav’s Patna residence on his birthday, with RJD supporters singing, dancing, and putting up posters proclaiming him the “Chief Minister of Bihar.”
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal hit out at the Election Commission over an alleged incident involving VVPAT slips found scattered near KSR College in the Sarairanjan Assembly constituency of Samastipur district.
Campaigning for the second phase of polling concludes on Sunday evening, with voting scheduled for November 11 and counting on November 14.
The second phase will see voting in 122 constituencies, including all seats in Bhagalpur district -Bihpur, Gopalpur, Pirpainti (SC), Kahalgaon, Bhagalpur, Sultanganj, and Nathnagar.
In Bihpur, sitting BJP MLA Kumar Shailendra is seeking a third consecutive term, facing Arpana Kumari of the Mahagathbandhan (VIP) and Pawan Choudhary of Jan Suraaj. In Gopalpur, JD(U)’s Shailesh Kumar alias Bulo Mandal is contesting against Prem Sagar alias Dablu Yadav (VIP) of the Mahagathbandhan and Mankeshwar Singh alias Mantu Singh (Jan Suraaj).
The Pirpainti (SC) seat is set for a triangular contest among BJP’s Murari Pasavan, RJD’s Ram Vilash Paswan, and Jan Suraaj’s Ghanshyam Das.
The first phase of elections, held on November 6, recorded a historic voter turnout of 65.08 percent, the highest in Bihar’s electoral history.

Sharing a video on X, the RJD alleged that the cameras were only turned back on after public objections. The party further claimed that illegal vehicle movement often coincides with these periods when surveillance is offline.
“Cameras on EVMs in Nalanda district remained switched off for half an hour! There was a huge commotion! Only then was the camera turned on! Every time the cameras are switched off, the movement of illegal vehicles starts in that area beforehand,” the post stated.
The RJD also criticised the Election Commission, warning that repeated technical issues risk undermining its credibility. “Every time, lame excuses are made! @ECISVEEP should not toy with its credibility and mandate,” the party added.
