Air pollution India’s worst health threat, shortening life by 10 years in Delhi, says AQLI report 

The report acknowledges that policy intervention in the form of the National Clean Air Programme would reduce particulate pollution by 20 percent to 30 percent by 2024, saying if India were to achieve and sustain the reduction, it would lead to remarkable health improvements

Toxic air pollution in the national capital is cutting short people’s lives by almost 10 years, emerging as the worst threat to human health in India, says the latest Air Quality Life Index (AQLI) report.

Notably, the rest of the country is not free of the menace either.

“Measured in terms of life expectancy, particulate pollution is the greatest threat to human health in India, reducing life expectancy by five years,” the AQLI report said.
