An intruder has allegedly assaulted a cabin crew member who is working with Air India while she was in her hotel room. According to media reports the incident had taken place at the Radisson Red Hotel at London's Heathrow.

According to a report published by The Hindu, the attacker was nabbed after the crew member cried for help when the attacker tried to assault her. The report also suggested that the crew member was taking a rest in her room when the intruder attacked her with a cloth hanger and dragged her on the floor when she tried to escape. The cabin crew member got badly bruised and the attacker tried to escape but was caught and later handed to police.

Air India also confirmed the incident and issued a statement," Air India accords foremost priority to the safety, security, and wellbeing of our crew and staff members. We are deeply anguished by an unlawful incident of intrusion at a hotel, operated by a major international chain, that affected one of our crew members. We are providing all possible support to our colleague and their broader team, including professional counselling. Air India is also working with the local police to pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law, and with the hotel management to ensure such incidents are not repeated. We request that the privacy of those involved is respected."

 

Reacting to the incident of assault on a crew member of Air India, former Union Minister Manish Tewari slammed the airline and wrote on X," The news report pertaining to the sexual assault on an @airindia Crew Member in London is very disturbing. What makes it even more galling is that the Cabin Crew had been repeatedly complaining about the lack of Security in the hotel in London , inadequate lighting and the dark spaces in the London Hotel."
