After accusing Congress leader Pawan Khera of holding two active voter ID cards in different constituencies, BJP leader Amit Malviya has now shifted his attack to Khera’s wife, Kota Neelima.
Taking to social media platform X on Wednesday, Malviya stated that Neelima, who contested from Khairatabad segment in Telangana, also holds two active EPICs -- one in Khairatabad and another in New Delhi.
Launching an attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the issue, Malviya questioned the silence of leader of the Opposition.
“Rahul Gandhi held a press conference and, without adequate due diligence, targeted and tarnished honest voters — even putting them at risk by revealing their identities without consent. He doxxed young, upwardly mobile professionals and poor daily wagers who had moved cities in search of better opportunities,” he said on X.
“Yet, he has maintained an equivocal silence on the shocking revelation that his close aide holds two EPIC cards. Is he the only one? Apparently not,” Malviya said as he went on to share the EPIC details of Khera’s wife.
Malviya argued that the controversy was symptomatic of a deeper rot in the Congress, drawing a parallel with Sonia Gandhi’s inclusion in the electoral rolls in 1980 despite her foreign birth. He added that this is why Congress and its INDIA bloc allies “defend illegal migrants and non-Indians while castigating our own people.”
“Rahul Gandhi cannot extricate himself from these acts of criminality within his own ranks, particularly involving people aspiring for public office and members of his inner coterie,” he said, calling on Rahul Gandhi to speak over the matter and Election Commission (EC) to investigate.
The fresh attack by the BJP comes after poll authorities in Delhi issued a notice to Khera for allegedly getting himself registered in the electoral roll of more than one constituency.
The district election officer of New Delhi district shared a copy of the notice issued to Khera on X. The Congress leader has been directed to reply to the notice by 11 am on September 8.
Reacting to the development, Khera said in a post on X, "...Yet another confirmation of how the @ECISVEEP functions to support the ruling regime. While our complaints of Vote Chori are disregarded, the EC rushes to act against opposition members."
He questioned why the Election Commission did not issue a single notice to "the 1,00,000 fake voters of Mahadevapura constituency, that were exposed by @RahulGandhi?"
"We will not stop exposing the EC's wrongdoings in the Bihar SIR (Special Intensive Revision) and other election processes," he added.
