Delhi Daredevils (DD) take on table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in match 42 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Thursday. Sunrisers come into this game on the back of a five-match winning streak and will be looking to add to that run to seal a top two finish.
In their previous outing, SRH faced off against Virat Kolhi’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). Kane Williamson was the lone fighter among the SRH batsmen as he scored a hard fought 56 from 39 balls to help his team reach 146 in 20 overs. RCB then faced the full brunt of the Hyderabad bowling attack as what seemed to be an easy target to chase all of a sudden felt like a mountain to climb. The bowlers stifled the batsmen in the middle overs and two excellent overs at the death by Kaul and Bhuvneshwar helped Sunrisers win by five runs.
Delhi’s last outing was a defeat to the Sunrisers itself. Youngster Prithvi Shaw (65) and Captain Shreyas Iyer (44) helped DD post a competitive total of 163 runs. Sunrisers however, as they have done numerous times this season, rose to the occasion and successfully completed their highest chase of the season. Openers Hale and Dhawan put on a 76-run stand at the top and Yusuf Pathan who came in fifth to bat scored 27 off just 12 deliveries to help his team to a seven wicket victory.

Head to head – Looking back at history will provide no solace for the struggling Delhi side as the Sunrisers have won seven out of the 11 games that these two teams have played against each other.
Team news:
None of the overseas batsmen have been able to put in consistent performances this season and it will be interesting to see who they pick to open the batting this time. Last game, Maxwell who was sent in to open was unlucky to get run out at the non-striker’s end. Mohammed Shami could also be brought back for Avesh Khan who was expensive conceding 47 from 3 overs in the last game.
No changes will be expected from the Sunrisers as they have found a brilliant match winning combination.
Prediction: Who will win?
Delhi, who have seen reversal of fortunes ever since Shreyas Iyer took over the captaincy ,were unlucky to lose the previous game against Hyderabad. Had they held on to the catches of Hales and Pathan, the game could’ve had a different outcome. They will be expected to iron out those flaws and come out on top this time.
Betting odds: According to Oddscheker.com, the odds are placed at 14/11 for DD and 8/11 for SRH.
Feroz Shah Kotla pitch report: The pitch at the Kotla has been slow and without much bounce on offer. However, it is known to support the spinners and we can expect players like Mishra and Rashid to terrorise batsmen when they come in to bowl.

Prithvi Shaw (DD) – Ever since making his debut the talented youngster has scored an impressive 205 runs in just five innings. He averages 41.00 and posted his highest score of 65 in his last outing against a supremely talented SRH bowling attack. Delhi and all fans of Indian cricket will be hoping he continues his fine form.
Kane Williamson (SRH) – The SRH skipper has been going about nonchalantly collecting the runs this season. He is currently fourth on the list of highest run-getters this season with 410 runs from just 10 matches. He has crossed the fifty-run mark five times already this season and boasts of an average of 51.25.
IPL points table: After a five-match unbeaten streak the Sunrisers sit pretty at the top of the table with 16 points from 10 games. Delhi who have won just three games this season are at the very bottom with six points. Check out the updated points table here.
