The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will be acknowledging MSMEs (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises) from all over the country with national awards for outstanding performance in the MSME sector on 18 October, 2016 at Punjab Agricultural University, Ferozepur Road, Ludhiana, Punjab in the presence of Honorable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi and ministers such as Shri Prakash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab, Shri Kalraj Mishra, Union Minister of MSME and many other such names. The event aims to recognize the contribution made by the entrepreneurs and encourage participation of rural and urban economically and socially backward individuals in trade and commerce. The highlights of this event will include the launch of National SC/ST hub with the objective of promoting enterprise culture and entrepreneurship among the SC/ST population and increase their stake in public procurement and the 'Zero Effect, Zero Defect' program to ensure that the products made by these enterprises have no defects and the processes involved has no environmental and ecological side effects, along with the Award distribution ceremony and distribution of 500 traditional wooden Charkhas to women spinners belonging to the five Khadi local institutions in Ludhiana. Union Minister Shri Giriraj Singh said, "Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil key initiatives and a hub to provide support to entrepreneurs from the SC/ST community.
