Rupee opens 18 paise down at 84.62 against dollar after India hits terror camps in Pakistan

Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, hitting terror bases in Pakistan and PoK

The rupee opened 18 paise down on May 7 after Indian armed forces hit on nine terror targets in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) including the Jaish-e-Mohammad headquarter of Bahawalpur and Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke.

The local currency opened at 84.62 against the dollar after closing the previous session at 84.43.

Indian armed forces launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours of May 7, two weeks after 26 people were killed in a terror strike in Kashmir's Pahalgam. Two of the terrorists involved in the attack have been identified as Pakistani citizens.

Out of the nine targets struck by India, four were in Pakistan and the remaining five were in PoK.
