Karnataka collects Rs 311 crore from property registration in a day, calls it a record

The Karnataka Stamps and Registration Department collected Rs 311 crore in revenue on September 27, after registering more than 26,058 documents, the highest ever till now, according to Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda.

“It is a new record in the history of the Stamps and Registration Department for a single day, and the number keeps on increasing,” the minister said.

On September 25, the department collected Rs 158.2 crore, registering 15,936 documents and on September 22, the department registered about 12,955 documents to rake in Rs 130.8 crore in revenue.

This comes after the state government announced on September 19 that the guidance value for property may go up by 20-30 percent from October 1. The guidance value may even go up by as much as 50 percent in dense IT corridors, the minister had said.
