The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) received 6.52 complaints per branch against RBL Bank in FY22-23. This was the highest among scheduled commercial banks last fiscal year. The complaints were received through the offices of the RBI Ombudsman (ORBIOs), according to the latest RBI annual report.
According to the report, which was published on March 11, the RBI recorded a total of 3,486 complaints against RBL Bank.
The report further highlighted that in all, private sector banks had received 73,764 complaints between April 1, 2022, and March 31, 2023.
State Bank of India (SBI), India’s largest public sector bank, had 40,345 total complaints in FY22-23, with its per-branch complaint level at 1.61. The regulator received 9,944 complaints against Bank of Baroda, 12,850 against Punjab National Bank, and 7,925 against Canara Bank. Overall, the RBI received 1,02,144 complaints against all public sector banks.
Among Small Finance banks, RBI received the most (899) complaints against AU Small Finance Bank.
The regulator received 501.86 complaints per branch against Paytm Payments Bank Ltd (PPBL) between April 1, 2022 and March 31, 2023. The complaints were received through the offices of the RBI Ombudsman (ORBIOs), according to the latest RBI annual report. This is the highest number of complaints per branch against any payments bank, the report said.
