There is an exuberance in Jaiveer Shergill's voice when you ask him about the Congress' chances in the five states facing assembly elections.
"The Congress is confident, optimistic; (the) Congress has led a very positive, precise and a people-oriented campaign," says Shergill, who is a national media panellist for the party.
As he talks to Moneycontrol's Viju Cherian, he stresses that the BJP's promises are hollow and that the results will boost the morale of the Congress and set the momentum for the 2019 general elections.
The Congress leader also talks about the "double trouble" the BJP is facing in Rajasthan, about how the Ajit Jogi-Mayawati combine will not affect the Congress in Chhattisgarh, and how booth management will help the party in Madhya Pradesh.
The Telangana results, he says, will be "a very important decision factor for fence-sitter political parties".
