You can now securely store and share your Aadhaar card digitally with the new Aadhaar app launched by UIDAI on November 9, making transactions and verifications easier than ever. This app enables a completely paperless experience, eliminating the need for physical photocopies or cards.
Features of the new Aadhaar app
The new Aadhaar app complements the existing mAadhaar app, offering a secure storage and sharing space for your Aadhaar card, but doesn't replace it. While it lacks features like digital card downloads, PVC card orders, and email/mobile verification, it's designed for easy storage and secure sharing of your Aadhaar card.
The new Aadhaar app provides a user-friendly interface and a simple two-step process to access Aadhaar details, making it easier for citizens to carry and share their digital Aadhaar information. This complements existing options like PDF versions or Digilocker, enhancing convenience and accessibility.
You can now store multiple Aadhaar cards, including family members', in the new Aadhaar app, with a limit of up to five profiles, provided they're linked to the same mobile number. This feature enables easy access and secure sharing of verifiable Aadhaar details directly from your smartphone.
Enhance your Aadhaar security with a biometric lock, protecting your data until you choose to unlock it. The app also keeps your profile data up-to-date, reflecting successful updates. Easily share verifiable credentials and QR codes, and scan Aadhaar QR codes for seamless transactions and services.

How to set up the new app?
To get started with the new Aadhaar app, download and install it from the Play Store or Apple App Store. Select your preferred language, enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number, and send an SMS from your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP, authenticate your face, and set a six-digit password. Your Aadhaar card will then be visible on the app, where you can mask, share, or add a biometric lock. You can repeat the process to add up to four more Aadhaar profiles, making it a convenient way to manage multiple cards.
