We spoke with Sundeep Gupta, Joint Managing Director, Jakson Group, to get his views on investing and advice for investors.
Q: What is your philosophy towards investment?
A: My main objective is capital preservation along with capital appreciation.
Q: How disciplined are you when it comes to investments?
A: Firmly stick to investment objectives in all scenarios. The strategy can change according to market conditions but the objective is firm.
Q: What kind of an investor would you describe yourself as: conservative, balanced or aggressive?
A: A balanced investor.
Q: Which is your most preferred instrument for investment?
A: Mutual funds (both debt and equity) as they are better managed products and the risk is mitigated.
Q: Could you share some of your learnings in investing?
A: Avoid speculative instruments as they pose very high risk. Mitigate your risk by investing in different products and schemes and lastly do not over leverage yourself.
Q: What is your advice to the general public as far as investing is concerned?
A: First and most important is to set your investment objective. Invest in products / schemes which offer returns in line with your objectives and lastly, monitor and review on periodic basis to see whether you are achieving your objective or not and change your portfolio accordingly.
