Amid a series of outages on the monorail services, the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said on Tuesday that the monorail will remain suspended from September 20 until further notice for system upgradation work.
"This planned block will allow faster integration of new rolling stock, advanced CBTC signalling upgrades, and refurbishment of the existing fleet, ensuring safer, smoother, and more reliable operations for Mumbaikars," the MMRDA stated in a release.
MMRDA said the services will be temporarily suspended for system upgradation and future-ready operations.
Recently, the elevated Mono Rail was stuck between Mysore Colony and Bhakti Park stations amid heavy rains in the city and cranes had been used to rescue passengers.

The Mumbai Monorail services were also disrupted on Monday morning after a train suddenly stopped due to power supply failure near Wadala, close to Antop Hill, leaving 17 passengers stranded for a short while.
