Dalal Street ended Thursday's session on a robust note with benchmark indices closing over 1 percent each. Nifty ended 140 points higher at 11,831 while the Sensex zoomed 488 points and is trading at 39,601 level.
Nifty PSU Bank ended close to 3 percent higher led by Union Bank of India, Indian Bank, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Oriental Bank of Commerce, PNB and State Bank of India.
Nifty Pharma registered gains of over 3 percent led by Piramal Enterprises, Sun Pharma, Aurobindo Pharma, Cipla, Divis Labs, Glenmark Pharma and Lupin.
From the Nifty Infra space, the top gainers were BHEL, Bharti Airtel, Bharti Infratel, CG Power, IRB Infra, L&T, NBCC, Vodafone Idea and Voltas.
ADAG stocks surged in late trade - Reliance Infra, Reliance Power, Reliance Capital and Reliance Naval surging up to 35 percent.
Jet Airways closed 93 percent higher ahead of NCLT order insolvency plea while YES Bank showed smart recovery after falling to double-digit for first time in last five years on June 20, largely may be because of short covering, ending the session with gains close to 11 percent.
India VIX was down 4.96 percent and is trading at 14.00 levels.
The top gainers from the NSE include YES Bank, Indiabulls Housing Finance, IndusInd Bank, Sun Pharma and JSW Steel while the top losers were UPL, Wipro, Adani Ports, Britannia Industries and Tech Mahindra.
The most active stocks were Indiabulls Housing Finance, YES Bank, UPL, IndusInd Bank and ICICI Bank.
Godrej Properties, Titan Company and Bajaj Finserv hit 52-week high on the BSE.
542 stocks have hit 52-week low on BSE including Jet Airways, Opto Circuits, Kwality, JP Associates, Reliance Home Finance, SREI Infra, HCL Infosystems, HEG, HDIL, Manpasand Beverages, Mercator, Eros Media, Punj Lloyd, Mcleod Russel, Reliance Communications, IRB Infra, Wockhardt, Emami, Zee Media, TV Today, Dolphin Offshore and Alembic Pharma among others.
The breadth of the market favoured the advances with 1118 stocks advancing and 665 declined while 310 remained unchanged on the NSE. On the BSE, 1531 stocks advanced, 1009 declined and 140 remained unchanged.
