The market continued to trade on a negative note on Friday afternoon, with the Nifty trading 64 points down at 10,618, and the Sensex trading 220 points lower at 34,928.

The Nifty Midcap index extended its loses and was down 1.7 percent, weighed down by stocks like Allahabad Bank, GMR Infrastructure, India Cements, Strides Shasun, TVS Motor Company, Just Dial, Power Finance Corporation, Voltas, Jain Irrigation Systems, CG Power, Reliance Power, Strides Shasun and Jaiprakash Associates, among others.

The BSE Midcap index was also down over 1 percent, dragged down by GMR Infrastructure, Adani Power, Wockhardt, Vakrangee and Reliance Power.
