Karnataka to unveil new bioenergy policy soon: Priyank Kharge

The new policy aims to position state as leader in clean, farmer-driven energy solutions

Priyank Kharge, Karnataka minister for electronics, information technology & biotechnology and rural development & panchayat raj, on July 16 said that the state will soon introduce a new bioenergy policy to boost sustainable energy initiatives.

Speaking after chairing the annual general meeting of Karnataka Bio-fuel Development Board, Kharge said the state government had conducted a detailed review of the bioenergy sector and discussed the urgent need for a comprehensive policy.

“We had a focused discussion on the urgent need for a comprehensive Bioenergy Policy for Karnataka,” he said.

“Such a policy is not just about alternative fuel - it's about enhancing farmers’ income by creating market linkages for agri-residue and waste, generating green jobs in rural areas, encouraging sustainable energy practices, and helping us meet our net-zero and climate action goals.”
