The results of Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana assembly elections will be announced on October 8, according to the Election Commission of India.
Voting in Jammu and Kashmir took place in three phases on September 18, 25 and October 1. Haryana will vote in a single phase on October 5.
The results for both the assembly elections will be declared on October 8 (Tuesday).
The election in Jammu and Kashmir was particularly significant as it was the first in over a decade and followed the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019, which stripped the region of its special status.
“J&K assembly elections have marked a significant deepening of democracy which will echo in the pages of history and continue to inspire a democratic spirit of the region for years to come,” said Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar.
The third and final phase of polling in Jammu and Kashmir concluded with a record voter turnout of 65.58 percent till 7 pm, as per the EC. Phase-1 and Phase-2 saw a polling percentages of 61.38 per cent and 57.31 per cent respectively.
Haryana, meanwhile, will vote in a single phase on October 5. The term of the legislative assembly of Haryana will end on November 3.
Earlier, the state was scheduled to go for polling on October 1, however, it was later pushed to honour both the voting rights and the traditions of the Bishnoi community.
