State-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) on May 9 assured sufficient fuel availability across its network, urging consumers against panic buying, amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
BPCL said the company’s supply chain operations remain robust with its fuel stations having sufficient supply of petrol, diesel, compressed natural gas (CNG) and LPG cylinders.
“All BPCL fuel stations and LPG distributorships, across its nationwide network are operating smoothly and are fully equipped to meet the energy needs of consumers,” the company said in a press release.
The statement by the oil marketing company was issued amid panic buying witnessed in some parts of Punjab with consumers stocking up on ration and queuing outside petrol pumps.
“We urge all customers to remain calm. BPCL remains steadfast in its commitment to energy accessibility and reliability,” the company said.
On May 8 night, India repulsed waves of Pakistani missiles and drone attacks aimed at its northern and western border areas of Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab and Rajasthan. Indian aerial defence systems also thwarted attempts to hit military bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Udhampur and other locations.
A day earlier, India launched Operation Sindoor in the early hours , hitting nine terror bases in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir two weeks after 26 people were killed in a terror strike in Kashmir’s Pahalgam on April 22. Two of the terrorists were Pakistani citizens.
