India’s satellite communication (satcom) sector is on the cusp of a revolution powered by bold government reforms and cutting-edge technologies. Once confined to niche applications, satcom is now central to the government’s vision of providing universal connectivity and transforming India into a global space economy leader.
From powering high-speed internet to enabling smart agriculture in rural areas, satcom is poised to complement terrestrial networks and expand the reach while contributing to India’s digital transformation.
India's satcom sector currently stands at USD 2.3 billion a year and is estimated to reach USD 20 billion by 2028, as per KPMG. It is in this environment that India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025 is bringing satcom to the center stage through a dedicated Satcom Summit in partnership with IN-SPACe on October 8, 2025.
The India Mobile Congress (IMC) 2025, billed as Asia’s largest digital technology forum, will be held from October 8–11 at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre in New Delhi. The ninth edition of the event is expected to draw more than 1.5 lakh visitors, 7,000 delegates, 800 speakers and 400 exhibitors from 150 countries, according to the official press release.
The summit, themed “Space Networks for Universal Connectivity”, will bring together industry leaders, policymakers and innovators to discuss how next-generation satellites can complement terrestrial networks to truly bridge India’s digital divide.
The dedicated summit will be inaugurated by Jyotiraditya Scindia, Minister of Communications and DoNER; Dr Jitendra Singh, Minister of State (MoS), Ministry of Science and Technology; Dr Pawan Goenka, Chairman, IN-SPACe; Anil Kumar Lahoti, Chairman, TRAI; Dr V Narayanan, Secretary, Department of Space and Chairman, Space Commission; Gulzar Natrajan, Additional Secretary (Telecom), Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
The summit will focus broadly on the rapidly evolving satellite communications (satcom) ecosystem, emphasizing its critical role in bridging connectivity gaps and driving digital transformation.
Within this framework, three power-packed panel discussions will explore key dimensions: SatCom Policy and Ecosystem Enablement, Emerging Trends and Changing Landscape and Demand Generation and Use Cases. The sessions will focus on critical areas of NGSO constellations, multi-orbit architectures, NTN integration, IoT-backed backhaul and Direct-to-Device breakthroughs, highlighting practical adoption pathways while boosting global investor confidence in India’s Satcom sector.
The summit will see participation from leading companies such as Eutelsat OneWeb, Starlink, Viasat, Amazon Kuiper, Reliance Jio, Nelco, Hughes Communication, and Dhruva Space, along with key industry bodies including the Indian Space Association (ISpA), Satcom Industry Association (SIA-India), Broadband India Forum (BIF) and the Indian Broadcasting & Digital Foundation (IBDF).
