Trump tariff unlikely to hurt India’s global strategic importance, China+1 theme still intact, say experts

As Washington escalates its tariff war with India, experts say the long-term rebalancing of global supply chains is still intact – moving away from China and tilting in India’s favour.

According to US Customs and ICEA data, India overtook China as the top smartphone exporter to the US in Q2CY25, driven by aggressive ramp-ups from Apple’s contract manufacturers like Foxconn and Pegatron, from their plants in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.
