After a brief downturn in June due to the Covid-19 second wave, Goods and Service Tax (GST) collections for the month of July 2021 rose to Rs 1.16 lakh crore, triggering hopes of a recovering economy even as the country passes through the weak end of the second COVID wave.

“With the easing out of covid restrictions, GST collection for July 2021 has again crossed Rs 1 lakh crore, which clearly indicates that the economy is recovering at a fast pace. The robust GST revenues are likely to continue in the coming months too,” Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Twitter.
