Govt revises amount declared under IDS to below Rs 60,000 crore

Earlier the Centre had announced that over Rs 67,000 crore had been disclosed under the income declaration scheme. Sources have told CNBC-TV18, that the figure has now been lowered to under Rs 60,000 crore.

The government has revised the amount declared under the Income Declaration Scheme that closed on September 30. Earlier the Centre had announced that over Rs 67,000 crore had been disclosed under the scheme. This was the first opportunity given to people to disclose all unaccounted wealth before demonetisation was announced. However, sources have now told CNBC-TV18, that the actual amount disclosed under the scheme could have been far less and the government has lowered it to under Rs 60,000 crore.
