The government has been giving fresh impetus to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act or MGNREGA, that assures 100 days of work in a year in rural areas. However, with a staggering Rs 48,000 crore in its funding kitty, the question is, who is really benefitting because job cards that show employment opportunity are now up for sale in many areas. CNBC-TV18's Archana Shukla investigated this matter in detail in the Bikaner district in Rajasthan and she reports on how the ground reality of actual jobs given against the payments made to the job cards paint two very different stories.
