Pharma GoM submits pricing proposal to Cabinet

CNBC-TV18 has learnt that in another key meeting on Thursday, the group of ministers (GoM) formed to decide the new pharma pricing policy has finalised a proposal to set the price-ceiling on pharmaceutical drugs.

CNBC-TV18 has learnt that in another key meeting on Thursday, the group of ministers (GoM) formed to decide the new pharma pricing policy has finalised a proposal.


The proposal will now be presented before the Cabinet for approval.
Minister of state for pharma and chemicals Srikant Jena said that the weighted average of price of drugs will determine the price ceiling. Jena clarified that the weighted average price of  brands which have more than 1 percent market share will be used to set the ceiling on prices.
