India Inc gets positive signals from investors in Singapore

With the Finance Minister in Singapore making ''The India Pitch'', CNBC-TV18'S Shereen Bhan caught up with the who's who of India Inc and asked them about the questions and worried that investors had with respect to investments into India. Rajan Bharti Mittal, VC & MD, Bharti Enterprises said the biggest takeaway from an investor point of view was that credibility of the government is back.However, Mittal said investors did ask for further clarity with respect to FDI in Insurance and definition of ‘Controls’. Naina Lal Kidwai, Country Head, HSBC India, said questions were more of a tactical nature. Basically, on the tax front they just wanted some reassurance from the FM. Interestingly, there were questions on bureaucratic transfers and its impact on investing going forward, said Kidwai. However, by and large questions were more on the future and progress than criticism.Harshavardhan Neotia, Ambuja Neotia Group said investors seemed to be looking at Indian more seriously. They were also keen to know how the government was handling the GST issue and how the government was trying to convince the opposition.  Neotia said the finance minister seemed optimistic that they would be able to get the opposition on board and push this through.According to Jyotsna Suri, President, FICCI there were lot of question on ease of doing business and the FM reassured them that a lot of states had taken it on themselves to bring it forward.Bhan also spoke to Harshpati Singhania, MD, JK Paper, YK Modi, former President, FICCI, EC & MD, Great Eastern Energy Corp and Sidharth BirlaFormer President, FICCI, Chairman, Xpro. They said there were various other concerns raised by investors with regards to China dumping and its impact on steel industry, banking sector and NPAs, discoms, black money law etc.ffor the entire interview watch video
