H-Energy Pvt, a unit of real estate player Hiranandani Group, has been granted rights by the petroleum regulator to lay a 635 km gas pipeline connecting Jaigarh in Maharashtra to Mangalore.
The pipeline will run from Jaigarh in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra to Panjim in Goa and onwards to Karwar in Uttara Kannada district and Udupi in Karnataka before terminating at Mangalore.
"The entity is allowed a maximum period of 36 months for the date of issue of the authorisation letter for ommissioning of the natural gas pipeline project," Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), said in the order.
The pipeline will have a capacity to carry 17 million standard cubic meters per day of natural gas and will offer 4.25 mmscmd of capacity to third parties for common carrier access.
Last month, H-Energy had said that the pipeline "will connect major industrial units like refineries, fertilizer plants, petrochemical plants and power plants in the south- western coastal stretch of Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Goa, Karwar, Udupi and Mangalore." It will also act as a gateway for development of city gas distribution (CNG) networks in the region to provide environmentally benign fuel (CNG) for transport and piped cooking gas to households.
H-Energy Gateway Pvt Ltd (HEGPL), an affiliate of HEPL, is setting up a 4 million tonnes per annum floating LNG import terminal at Jaigarh port in Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra.
"All major clearances, port agreements and technical studies have been completed and the project is expected to be commissioned in the second quarter of 2018, under an early commissioning programme through a 60 km tie-in pipeline from Jaigarh to Dabhol," it had said.
