The clean-up of banks, or Asset Quality Review, which began under outgoing RBI Raghuram Rajan has strengthened the country's banking system, says NS Venkatesh, Executive Director, Lakshmi Vilas Bank. Venkatesh said his bank does not expect a second tranche of AQRs ahead.On the appointment of Urjit Patel as the next RBI Governor, Venkatesh says Patel brings in continuity and stability to the central bank's policy so far.On his bank's performance, Venkatesh said the bank's retail book is currently growing at 20 percent. He added that though there is demand from the medium, small, micro enterprise sector, the bank is focussing on maintaining credit quality and is cautious on lending. He expects a 23 percent retail growth for the bank going ahead.Watch video for more...
