The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is maintaining a “rigorous oversight” on airfares and flight capacities ahead of the festive season to ensure there are no steep hikes in ticket prices.

During periods of high travel demand, domestic airfares often surge—particularly on high-traffic routes. While airfares remain deregulated, the DGCA has the authority to monitor pricing trends and take corrective measures in case of excessive fare increases.

In a statement on Sunday, the Civil Aviation Ministry said, “DGCA will maintain rigorous oversight of airline fares and flight capacities to protect passengers’ interests during the festive season.”

To meet the expected surge in demand, major carriers have announced additional flights across various routes.
