30% entertainment tax could kill DTH mkt, affect TV revenue

Tamil Nadu State Assembly imposed a 30% entertainment tax on direct-to-home (DTH) services. This could have a rippling effect on channel biggies such as Sun TV, Raj TV and Dish TV, reports Ekta of CNBC-TV18.

Just as the Sun Group thought its troubles were easing, it has been dealt yet another blow. The Group did not even get to rejoice the release of former chief operating officer of Sun Pictures, Hansraj Saxena, from jail on conditional bail that the State Assembly imposed a 30% entertainment tax on direct-to-home (DTH) services.
