Lupin gets US FDA nod for antibiotic Suprax capsules

Lupin arm Lupin Pharmaceuticals Inc has received US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) approval for its new drug application (NDA) to market and sell antibiotic Suprax (Cefixime) capsules in 400mg strength. Cefixime is used to treat infections like tonsilitis and acute bronchitis among others. The approval will expand Lupin’s range of Suprax dosage forms available to treat the approved indications in appropriate patients. It is currently available as 100 mg/5ml and 200 mg/5ml suspensions as well as 400 mg tablets.  The company expects to commence shipping the product in the near future. Lupin shares were up 1% at Rs 538.20 on NSE in morning trade.
