Vijay Mallya, chairman, UB Group is in discussions with an Indian company for equity stake sale in Kingfisher Airlines. Speaking to CNBC-TV18's Swati Khandelwal Jain, Mallya said that he is also in talks with international strategic investors and some PE firms for the same.
Mallya also clarified that he has not asked the government or any bank for a bailout and is working with banks for seeking only additional working capital. "We are in discussion with our banks for additional appraised working capital limits. We are also working with SBI Capital Markets on an ongoing basis, he added. Apart from raising equity, the company may also apply for a rights issue. "We have funded the airline as required and will continue to do. There are many irons in the fire, raising equity is one of them and rights issue is definitely on," he added.
