Environment Min asks Lavasa to set up restoration fund

The Environment Ministry submitted its reports on the Lavasa project yesterday. The report suggests that there have been gross violations by Lavasa. The violations are serious in nature the reports says and the Environment Ministry has said it would be difficult to approve the project.

This has come as a major road block to the Lavasa project. The Ministry has now asked Lavasa to set up a restoration fund. The Ministry will file its report and affidavit later today with the Bumbai High Court and the case will come up for hearing on January 27, 2010 On November 25, the Ministry of Environment and Forest had issued a stop-work notice for the Lavasa project on grounds that it violated some environmental rules.
