Things are getting tough for Rahul Yadav, the bad boy of the Indian startup community as his new venture seems to have lost steam even before takeoff, and the former Housing.com CEO blames it on the media.
Rahul Yadav's much anticipated second coming seems to have gone off track as the former Housing.com CEO's e-governance startup Intelligent Interfaces has been unable to find any takers and even as Yadav explores the option of coming back to the online real estate space, he is not fighting shy of leveling the blame elsewhere.
In a Facebook post, Yadav says government officials are wary of working with intelligent interfaces as they fear they could get embroiled in cases of favouritism.
The media, it seems, is also to blame.
The 27-year-old has hit out at an Inc42 news report titled "Rahul Yadav - The end of an era that never began".
The report claims that Yadav has lost interest in Intelligent Interfaces, and is burning up investor money on overseas trips. Now, naturally, Yadav has gone one step beyond denying these claims.
He says, "I have (a) serious problem with the media of our country. I simply don't like their data/stats nor their intellect."
Now e-governance might not be a universally loved cup of tea, but money definitely is and online lending platform Capital Float is enjoying every sip.
Capital Float has secured USD 25 million in series B funding, led by Creation Investments Capital Management.
Existing investor Saif Partners, Sequoia India and Aspada also participated. Capital Float, which operates a lending marketplace for banks and non-banking financial companies, wants to start lending from its own balance. Hospitality is another space with room for investment and billionaire Analjit Singh's Max Ventures and Industries has chosen this space to make its first investment.
Max Ventures has invested Rs 33.5 crore in creative food company Azure Hospitality.
This round of funding also saw existing investor Goldman Sachs pump in more money into the startup.
The money will go towards expanding operations across Azure's properties including casual dining chain Mamzagoto, and quick services restaurant Speedy Chow.
