Gujarat FM likely frontrunner to head State FM panel on GST

For the first time, the ruling government could have one of its own heading the state finance ministers’ panel on GST. According to sources, Gujarat's FM Saurabh Patel is the frontrunner for the job. The other likely candidates include West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra, Kerala FM KM Mani and Punjab FM‎ Parminder Dhindsa.

The state FM panel ‎on GST will appoint a Chairman on March 20 (Friday). The meeting is likely to be chaired by Union Finance Minister.

The government has been readying to initiate passage of Constitutional Amendment Bill for GST after ‎Parliament’s recess.
