To take GST Constitutional Amendment Bill a step towards reality, government has invited IT majors to help set up an IT infrastructure. They have collected all the data and will be linking it to the Centre.
A body called Goods and Service Tax network has been set up for the same. IT players have been invited and request for quotation (RFQ) has been floated by the government. IT majors like like TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, HCL Tech, Wipro, and Tech Mahindra have been approached.
A common portal will be formed, which will create a system to enable permanent account number (PAN) based registration, income tax filing and payment processing. For this, a large scale common portal is needed along with significant amount of data analysis and data competition.
Initial launch is expected in September 2015 followed by final launch by the end of the year.
