It's Day 10 of the strike by Maruti workers in Manesar on the outskirts of Delhi. On Sunday, the stalemate seemed to be melting when the management agreed to recognise the new union formed by workers.

CNBC-TV18 has learnt from sources that a compromise is in the works. A crucial meeting has commenced at Gurgaon to break the logjam, with the company management, labour department officials and union members participating.
Swati Khandelwal of CNBC-TV18 brings to light the impact the strike has had on the company. "Maruti has already clocked a production loss of 10,000 units, and in value terms, it amounts to almost Rs 400 crore," she says. However, RC Bhargava, chairman, Maruti, claims that the impact is of a short-term nature since dealers generally have about 28 days of inventory.
