Vodafone India has been denying free incoming roaming pacts to certain customers, particularly corporate and new customers. Their customer care executives seem to be uninformed about the special tariff vouchers and plans that the company is supposed to provide as per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) mandate. The regulator had directed all telecom companies to provide special vouchers and special tariff plans for the purposes of free roaming with effect from July 1, 2013. The company clarified when approached by CNBC-TV18, that it was not providing any free incoming roaming pacts and was not offering top-up for free incoming roaming pacts. Also, they said that corporate customers are not entitled to free incoming roaming top-up plans. According to sources within TRAI, free incoming roaming plans have to be provided to customers across the board and the regulator is going to look into that matter. Vodafone India maintains that the company has not violated any regulations by the TRAI.
