Cabinet approves development of two new Delhi Metro corridors at a cost of Rs 8,400 cr

The two corridors are Inderlok-Indraprastha (12.377 km) and Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block (8.385 km).

The 8-km Lajpat Nagar-Saket G Block line will have eight stations, while the Inderlok-Indraprastha stretch will have 10 stations.

The Union Cabinet on March 13 approved the development of two new Delhi Metro corridors.

The corridors will connect Lajpat Nagar to G Block in Saket and Inderlok to Indraprastha, with a combined length of 20.762 km.

The new corridor will benefit nearly 2.5 lakh commuters. The announcement comes just days before the dates for the Lok Sabha elections are announced. The metro project will cost around Rs 8,400 crore.

The 12.377 km Inderlok - Indraprastha corridor will be an extension of the Green Line and will provide interchange with the Red, Yellow, Airport Line, Magenta, Violet and Blue Lines, while the Lajpat Nagar - Saket G Block corridor will connect the Silver, Magenta, Pink and Violet Lines.
