Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said that "India will become the third largest economy by 2027 or even earlier".
While addressing the CII Annual Business Summit, Scindia said, "In last 10 years we have shed the skin of a less developed country, we are the envy of the world. By 2027, or even earlier, we will become the third largest economy. We do not count years or days anymore, we count hours and seconds. And every second has to count."
"Capex of Rs 11.2 lakh crore is steering India ahead," Scindia added.
Further highlighting that India is a digital first economy, the Union minster said, "India is a digital first economy and leading that has been telecom revolution. We have 1.2 billion mobile subscribers from 800 million a decade ago. Costs have fallen by multiples, exponentially. There has been a 97% reduction in cost of communication globally. We pay 11 cents per GB while world pays $2.5.:
"We will become data capital of the world within next five years. We have made Atmanirbhar telecom possible," he added.
