To incentivise first-time homebuyers, the government should extend the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) in Budget 2023, says Pradeep Aggarwal, founder and chairman of Signature Global Group.

While the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) has been extended until December 31, 2024, the Credit Linked Subsidy Scheme (CLSS) vertical for EWS/LIG under PMAY-U was upto March 31, 2022, a government statement had said on August 10, 2022.

"Since PMAY has received an extension until 2024, it should also include CLSS," Aggarwal said.

“Along with this, the government should consider increasing the definition of affordable housing to homes in the price range of Rs 75 lakh to Rs 1 crore for the segment to remain viable,” he said.
