Participation of women in the workforce has increased, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said in her Budget 2024 speech.
She mentioned that female enrollment in higher education has risen by 28 percent in the last decade. In STEM courses, females constitute 43 percent of enrollment, one of the highest rates in the world.
"All these steps are reflected in the increasing participation of women in the workforce. Making triple talaq illegal, reservation of 1/3 seats for women in Parliament and state assemblies, and over 70 percent of houses under PM Awas Yojana allocated to women have enhanced their dignity," she said.
